Established in the 1950s, Oakridge is the consummate family neighbourhood. Original home owners are slowly making way for younger families but the sense of community remains. Large tree filled lots make up the bulk of the neighbourhood. It is not uncommon to see kids playing street hockey, walking to school or riding bikes. In the fall and winter you can smell the original wood burning fireplaces from all over the neighbourhood. Oakridge is also home to some of the city’s best schools and the Sifton Bog Environmentally Significant Area. It’s a great place to go for a hike and escape from the city but be sure to wear your rain boots!
16,730 people live in Oakridge, up slightly from 2006.
89 percent of the 6,310 households are home owners.
Half of households have an annual total income of over $89,679.
